Lucy Hamilton's collection of Washington State bridges and railways construction photographs, 1916-1934 1926-1929.

This is a collection of about 793 black and white photographs that range in size from about 3 x 5 inches to 8 x 10 inches. The photographs are predominantly of different stages of bridge construction of different bridges throughout Washington State. The collection includes some photographs of the construction of railways and viaducts. It appears that some of the construction crews for different projects may be in some of the photographs. Some of the construction photographs were taken by Andersen Photo in Aberdeen, WA. There are about 13 unidentified photographs of a family living and mining in Montana.

The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam. It is unclear at this time the relationship of Lucy Hamilton to this collection of photographs. Ms. Hamilton donated them to the Washington State Library in 1964. There is a notation on the handwritten index: "Album 1, J. F. Hamilton, Bridge Construction." The relationship of J. F. Hamilton to Lucy Hamilton can't be determined at this time.
